| Watching The Closing Sky (8 out of 10) |

Profuna Ocean’s debut CD “Watching The Closing Sky”, may only have four tracks on it, but it still clocks in at almost forty minutes. This is a band who aren’t afraid to stretch themselves musically, and they’re all the better for it.
The opening track “Changing Legacy”, starts with a psychedelic tinged riff that builds into the kind of thing Mostly Autumn would do, but without the fiddles and whistles. It then changes again to something altogether more Porcupine Tree-like. It has light parts, heavy parts, though not too heavy and is basically very good, inventive music.
This really sets the pattern for the whole disc: the music is complex, incentive, good solid prog. The band stend to stay on the light side of things, they never really stray towards prog metal, but if you’re in the mood for something a little laid back, then this is a really good listen.
Album closer “SCITS” has a bit of folk thing going on at times and this works really well for the band. I have to say that it does meander a little. This really is the only gripe though.
